Coventry Destination Guide

Situated on the edge of Shakespeare country, Coventry is the home of British motoring and was historically a manufacturing king for some of the UK's biggest transport brands. This ancient city is probably best known for the legend of Lady Godiva, who rode naked through the streets of Coventry on horseback in protest of harsh tax laws. A statue in her honour stands today in the city's central main square.

Another major important landmark is Coventry Cathedral, or St. Michael's Cathedral. Severely bombed during the Second World War, the original church now only remains as a mere shell. A new building was built besides the ruins during the 1950's, forming the modern cathedral, which attracts many tourists from around the UK. Other nearby places of interest, include Shakespeare's birth town of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle and Cadbury's World.
